Cedar Rapids, Iowa – There are many different forms of youth homelessness, such as couch-hopping or living on the streets. Foundation 2 Crisis Services is taking action to assist kids who are homeless this holiday season as the weather turns colder.

The National Conference of State Legislatures estimates that up to 4.2 million young people are homeless.

The youth shelter run by Foundation 2 may accommodate up to 17 individuals between the ages of 11 and 17. In addition to providing food and a place to sleep, the shelter aims to provide its clients a sense of stability. In addition to offering stability, they collaborate with other NGOs to help them get ready for the future.

“Every young person who enters our facility has a goal sheet that they are working on,” stated Shelby Holsapple, the Youth Shelter’s manager. Although our services are highly customized, they are not intended for long-term use. After the adolescents are secure and stabilized, we want to continue supporting them on an outpatient basis for whatever goals they may be pursuing.

According to Holsapple, assisting homeless adolescents is a labor of love for her and the other Foundation 2 organizers.

“I enjoy working with the young people every day and assisting them in making sense of their lives,” Holsapple remarked.

They’re going above and above to ensure the comfort of all their guests as the holidays get near. For those who are homeless, Holsapple believes the holidays may be particularly difficult.
Foundation 2 raises money all year round to support its ongoing operations.
