Hawkeye crowd fills Carver as Hawks play in National Championship
Iowa City, Iowa – At a watch party on Sunday, Hawkeye supporters jammed Carver-Hawkeye Arena to witness Caitlin Clark and the Hawks play their season-ending game.
Despite the team’s defeat at the hands of South Carolina, the supporters’ enthusiasm remained unwavering.
”We’d love to be sitting in this same seat again next year,” Valerie Vanzee, who took her two daughters to the watch party, said.
A few are excited to see what the team will do next and are prepared for change.
“Let’s keep it going,” Pat Rios, a season ticket holder, said. “We’re not gonna stop coming back just because of what the dynasty is.”
Caitlin Clark’s time as a Hawkeye ended with the Championship game as well. For the senior, this season has been nothing short of historic, and her time on the floor has inspired all of Iowa.
“It’s super exciting to have daughters who have had such great role models and to have so much attention brought to women’s sports,” Vanzee said.
“Me personally, can’t wait to see what next season brings,” Rios said. “This one [season] is definitely top 10 in my book.”
