Iowa City Police investigate May 16 homicide, release name of victim
The Iowa City Police Department and the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office have released the identity of the victim of the May 16, 2021 suspicious death in Iowa City.
The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Frederick W. Rumble, of Iowa City.
The Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office says preliminary autopsy shows the manner of death is a homicide because of injuries sustained from gunshot wounds.
Iowa City Police Officers responded to the area of Sandusky Drive and Taylor Drive, Iowa City, to a report of shots fired on May 16 at 1:20 a.m.
Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male victim with gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and was later pronounced deceased.
This matter remains under investigation by the Iowa City Police Department, the Johnson County Attorney’s Office, and the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The ICPD continues to request information from anyone who has information regarding this case.
The Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects in these matters.

This isn’t the first shooting murder in Iowa City in 2021. Tommy Curry, 31 of Iowa City, was found near the 2400 block of Lakeside Drive with gunshot wounds on Wednesday April 28th.
