Iowa reports 565 new positive COVID-19 tests, no additional deaths

On Tuesday, the Iowa Department of Public Health reported 565 new positive COVID-19 tests and no additional deaths.

At 10 a.m., the health department reported 386,469 total positive tests, 338,584 total recoveries and 5,857 total deaths since the start of the pandemic. Twenty-four hours earlier, the health department reported 385,904 total positive tests and 5,857 total deaths.

The Iowa Department of Public Health announced Tuesday it has advised that all Iowa vaccine providers pause administration of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine until more details are confirmed as the the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration are investigating reports of potentially dangerous blood clots.

Iowa’s positivity rates appear to be holding steady below 5%. The 7-day average dropped from 4.9% to 4.8% and the 14-day average remains at 4.9%. Iowa reports 4,602,059 tests have been administered in the state.

The number of Iowans hospitalized with COVID-19 remains at 220. There are 56 patients in ICU and 20 patients on ventilators.

Three of Iowa’s long-term care facilities reporting COVID-19 outbreaks. There are 30 positive cases among residents and staff within those facilities. Iowa reports 2,295 care facility deaths.
