Mar. 23: Almost 500 new COVID-19 cases, 3,730 more completed vaccinations

IOWA — There were 496 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the state’s dashboard, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 346,310.

The state’s website says that of the 346,310 people who have tested positive, 328,869 have recovered. This is 813 more recoveries than what the state reported Monday.

The state’s death toll is 5,675, which is the same number reported yesterday.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (328,869) and the number of deaths (5,675) from the total number of cases (346,310) shows there are currently 11,766 active positive cases in the state.

As of Tuesday morning, there were 28 patients hospitalized in Iowa within the last 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 185, an increase from 171 hospitalized the day before. Of those, 37 are in the ICU (same as Monday), and 16 are on ventilators (down from 18).

In Iowa, there were 2,725 people tested in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,616,601 people have been tested for COVID-19.

As of Tuesday morning, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine dashboard, 1,240,253 total doses have been administered to Iowa residents and 499,348 individuals have completed the series. This is 3,730 more completed vaccinations than Monday.

BLACK HAWK COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Black Hawk COVID-19 dashboard is showing 18 new cases since 10 a.m. Monday, leaving a total of 16,231 cases. There have been 20 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 14,529. There have been a total of 299 deaths. In Black Hawk County, 22,187 residents have been fully vaccinated.

LINN COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Linn County COVID-19 dashboard is showing a total of 19,731 cases, seven less than what was reported on Monday. The dashboard is also showing a total of 18,421 recoveries, 5 less than reported on Monday. There are a total of 333 deaths in the county. There are 14 patients currently hospitalized in the county. In Linn County, 37,862 residents have been fully vaccinated.

JOHNSON COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Tuesday, there are 18 new positive cases reported in Johnson County since 10 a.m. Monday. This brings the total to 13,357 reported cases. There have been a total of 12,894 recoveries, 26 more reported than yesterday. There were no additional deaths, leaving a total of 76. In Johnson County, 29,921 residents have been fully vaccinated.

DUBUQUE COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Tuesday, there were 16 additional positive cases reported in Dubuque County since 10 a.m. Monday. This brings the total to 12,580 reported cases. There have been 51 additional recoveries reported, leaving a total of 12,106. There have been no additional deaths reported, leaving a total of 200. In Dubuque County, 17,294 residents have been fully vaccinated.
