May 1: Iowa reports over 2.3M COVID-19 vaccine doses administered to residents
Iowa health officials are reporting 22,685 more people have completed their vaccine series, meaning 1,064,147 individuals are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
As of Saturday morning, the state’s COVID-19 vaccine dashboard shows 2,338,949 total vaccine doses have been administered to Iowa residents.
Between 10 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday, there were 388 new, confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state. So far, Iowa has reported 365,164 people have tested positive for the virus
Of those who have tested positive, 347,713 have recovered, an increase of 516 since yesterday.
Iowa’s COVID-19 dashboard shows no additional virus-related deaths have been reported, keeping the state’s death toll to 5,950.
Subtracting the number of recoveries (347,713) and the number of deaths (5,950) from the total number of cases (365,164) shows there are currently 11,501 active positive cases in the state.
The latest report from the Iowa Department of Public Health says there are 189 hospitalizations due to the virus, which is down from 191 reported on Thursday. Of those hospitalizations, 44 are in the ICU and 18 are on ventilators.
In Iowa, there were 2,769 test results reported in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,710,140 people have been tested for COVID-19.
