May 19: More than 6,000 additional people fully vaccinated in Iowa

Iowa reports highest number of hospitalizations this year

New data from the Iowa Department of Public Health shows an additional 284 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state from 10:00 a.m. May 18 to 10:00 a.m. May 19.

A total of 369,921 people in Iowa have now tested positive for COVID-19 since the coronavirus pandemic began.

The seven-day rolling positive test average is at 2.9% in the state.

Seven new COVID-19-related deaths have been reported, moving the state’s death total at 6,013.

An additional 6,287 people in Iowan have been fully vaccinated against the virus for a total of 1,275,754.

Iowa has administered 2,624,027 total doses of the vaccine.

The total number of hospitalizations in Iowa increased by three to 145. There are 44 patients in ICU, an increase of four from May 18.
