Ministry downtown to be renewed with $4.2 million investment from Cedar Rapids church

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Cedar Rapids’ First Lutheran Church is spending $4.2 million to renew ministry downtown.
In conjunction with its new purpose to Discover More : Together, First Lutheran Church renovated its 100-year-old sanctuary to give it a more open, contemporary atmosphere. The hope is to capture imagination of Cedar Rapids and draw community together again around a beautiful 3000 pipe tracker organ, that is unique to the area.
The Church will dedicate its sanctuary and new organ during service on Saturday, August 28, at 5 p.m., and Sunday, August 29, at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
A special dedication concert featuring nationally known organist Ahreum Han Congdon will take place Sunday, August 29 at 3 p.m.
All services are free and open to the public.
