Bondurant, Iowa- Zack Lucas, an eight-year-old champion pie-eater at the Iowa State Fair, is still relishing his spotlight moment, according to KCCI’s Jodi Long. Lucas went to Home Slice Handmade Pies in Bondurant this past weekend to select pies.

Lucas talked about winning the well-known state fair competition for the first time in an interview that went viral on Thursday. The neighborhood baker Laura Lacina requested to meet Lucas and posted the interview on social media. Because they both loved pie, the two were soon getting together.

Pie is a unifying food. The main reason we do what we do is because pie makes people happy, according to Lacina. “He’s a fantastic role model who should eat more pie,”

Zack Lucas informed KCCI that he would be attending Moulton Elementary School in Des Moines in the third grade. “I don’t eat pie very often,” he admits, but Lacina’s baked pies were excellent. Lucas selected four pies to sample: peach blueberry raspberry, lemonade, small Oreo, and French silk.

Lucas is happy of the remarks he has seen on social media and is appreciating the attention the interview has brought him. Lucas’s entire family is now filled with happiness because of the blue ribbon.

Andrea Shepard, Lucas’ mother, smiled and said to KCCI, “It’s at home in his room.” He enjoys discussing it. Most likely, I’ll frame it and hang it on the wall or something.

Next summer, Lucas intends to defend his crown at the Iowa State Fair.
