The Student Academy of Audiology at the University of Iowa is bringing back Haunted Hustle for Hearing
Iowa City, Iowa – The Haunted Hustle for Hearing is making a comeback to Iowa City for the first time in four years. The Student Academy of Audiology at the University of Iowa is in charge of organizing the 5k walk.
The SAA president, Paige Harlan, compared the event to UI’s Dance Marathon. The Haunted Hustle brings the week to a festive close after students spent the week raising money.
Every dollar donated is reinvested in the hearing aid fund, which assists patients at the Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Clinic in affording hearing devices.
“As hearing aids can be highly costly, not everyone can afford them. According to Harlan, the purpose of the hearing aid fund is to assist patients who require hearing aids or other assistive technologies but may not otherwise be able to pay for them.
Although the audiology department is the only one invited to this year’s Hustle, Harlan stated that they intend to invite the community in the upcoming years.
Harlan indicated that if you would like to contribute to the hearing aid fund, you can use Venmo to send money to @Paige-Harlan or @abbybentz.
