You can add Iowa driver’s licenses to your Apple Wallet
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Transportation said on Wednesday that residents of Iowa can now safely add their ID, or driver’s license, to Apple Wallet.
This will enable users of iPhones and Apple Watches to utilize the Apple Wallet app to show their identification at TSA checkpoints as well as other establishments and locations.
Using iOS apps like Tap2iD Mobile, VeriScan, and Mobile ID Verify, businesses will be able to safely scan IDs in Apple Wallet to confirm a customer’s age.
Tap the Add (+) button at the top of the iPhone app’s screen to add a license to Apple Wallet. After that, choose “Driver’s License or State ID” and adhere to the prompts displayed on the screen.
The data is encrypted on the device once the ID has been added to the app.
“The Iowa Department of Transportation only receives the information necessary to approve or deny the request when an ID is added to Apple Wallet,” the DOT stated in a press release.
Additionally, according to the DOT, neither Apple nor the DOT will have information regarding who was shown the ID or when it was presented.
