Cedar Rapids daycare closes, parents collect belongings
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Parents are allowed to take their belongings from a Cedar Rapids daycare which closed its doors recently. The daycare served over 100 kids.
Due to Covid-19 and issues with staff, Kids Inc. on Cedar Rapids’ southwest side closed this week.
Dozens of parents picked up their belongings that had been left at the daycare like milk, diapers and blankets. Some of the parents said that finding a daycare service won’t be an easy job for them, and for some kids will be extremely difficult to adapt to a new environment.
“My four-year-old has no idea. I explained it like five times to them, but they don’t understand. Nobody knows what’s next. A lot of people are in limbo until school starts,” mother of one of the kids, Kelsie Uthe said.
The owner’s license for the daycare expired on Sunday, as it didn’t have enough employees to safely watch the kids under Department of Human Services regulations.
