Over $300,000 in lost funds are returned to a man by the Great Iowa Treasure Hunt

Davenport, Iowa – Three hundred and seventeen thousand dollars are awarded to a Michigan man who has ties to Iowa.

The funds were given to Robert, who asked to remain anonymous by not sharing his last name, through the State of Iowa Treasurer’s Office’s Great Iowa Treasure Hunt. Millions of dollars in lost income are returned to Iowans year thanks to the program.

The money Robert’s aunt left behind was kept languishing for a long period after her death in 2016. He was first dubious about the notion that there would be that much cash on hand.

State Representative Mike Vondran stated, “Even in this instance, this individual was somewhat concerned.” “We were surrounded by those things today, so when I reached out to him, he thought it was a little bit of a scam. He proceeded to the legislative website, checked me out, and discovered that I was a lawmaker. He then sent me a message through my legislative email to confirm my existence. “It is me,” I replied, and he replied, “great, I just didn’t believe it.”

The next beneficiary won’t receive quite as much, but there’s still more money to be distributed. The next individual on Vondran’s list will receive $21,000, he claimed.
