Cedar Rapids man arrested after a short police pursuit
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – After leading police on a short pursuit across the northeast part of the city early Monday morning, a Cedar Rapids man has been arrested, according to authorities.
After 3 a.m., a deputy pulled over a car near Blair Ferry Road and I-380 for going 90mph in an 80mph zone on I-380.
According to the deputy, the driver, LaShaun Perry, 45, of Cedar Rapids, was the only one in the car.
Perry, according to law enforcement, became non-compliant and drove away, prompting the brief chase. The Hiawatha Police Department assisted in the pursuit. The chase came to an end in the Cambridge Townhouses, which are located at 2126 North Towne Court NE in Cambridge.
Perry was arrested and is now facing charges of Attempting to Elude, Interference with Official Acts, Operating While Intoxicated, Open Container, and other traffic offenses.
