Cedar Rapids, Iowa – After accepting a plea agreement for a fatal shooting in 2017, a Cedar Rapids man was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Tuesday.

According to court documents, this week, Quarzone Martin pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and willful injury in the murder of Andrew Meeks, 26.

Prosecutors say Martin shot and murdered Meeks on July 2 in a Cedar Rapids Walmart parking lot, also injuring a 30-year-old man.

Martin was found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced to 50 years in prison before the Iowa Court of Appeals overturned his conviction.
