The FBI is warning law enforcement nationwide to be on high alert for protests by extremists that may start this weekend.

The FBI has told local police and state patrol to prepare for potential attacks on state capitols, federal buildings, businesses, and even homes of lawmakers.

As a result, the Polk County Courthouse has been boarded up. The Department of Public Safety is working with Homeland Security and local police to take steps to secure the safety at the Iowa Capitol Complex.

Local authorities said they don’t have any credible threats at the moment. However, law enforcement is monitoring social media and other channels for any security concerns.
