Manchester, Iowa – A man of Manchester was convicted for human trafficking an adult woman under the age of 21 in March 2020 in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Iowa City and surrounding areas.

The 33-year-old Darius Redd is facing a prison sentence of minimum 15 years.

Prosecutors during a four-and-a-half-day trial said Redd used deceptive and coercive techniques, as well as physical force, to force the victim to perform sex acts for money during a four-and-a-half-day trial. According to court filings, he kept all of the money.

According to a news release from Acting U.S. Attorney Richard Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa, Redd also provided the victim with a controlled substance and put advertising on an escort website with the victim and other women.

He’s also suspected of attempting to lure and coerce more women into performing sex acts for money.

The date for sentencing has been scheduled on January 28, 2022.
