Man to spend six years in prison for unlawfully carrying a firearm
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – After six prior adult criminal offenses, a convicted felon was sentenced to six years in federal prison for unlawfully carrying a firearm.
Mitchell Berry, 29, was sentenced to jail after pleading guilty in March to one count of being a felon in possession of a weapon. Berry’s vehicle was found with a firearm in December 2019 by Waterloo police.
Berry was given a sentence of 72 months in jail. After his jail sentence, he must serve a three-year period of supervised release.
Berry is being kept in the custody of the US Marshals until he can be transferred to a federal prison.
