Mar. 19: Iowa reports 6 more COVID-19 deaths, 593 new cases

(KWWL) — There were 593 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday, according to the state’s dashboard, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 344,909.

The state’s website says that of the 344,909 people who have tested positive, 327,129 have recovered. This is 609 more recoveries than what the state reported Thursday.

The state’s death toll is 5,672, which 6 more than what was reported yesterday.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (327,129) and the number of deaths (5,672) from the total number of cases (344,909) shows there are currently 12,108 active positive cases in the state.

As of Friday morning, there were 45 patients hospitalized in Iowa within the last 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 181, an increase from 171 hospitalized the day before. Of those, 44 are in the ICU (up from 41), and 21 are on ventilators (up from 19).

On Thursday, the state reported zero long-term care facility COVID-19 outbreaks in Iowa.

In Iowa, there were 3,248 people tested in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,608,290 people have been tested for COVID-19.

As of Friday morning, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine dashboard, 1,138,228 total doses have been administered to Iowa residents and 447,345 individuals have completed the series. This is 22,315 more completed vaccinations than Thursday.

BLACK HAWK COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Friday, the Black Hawk COVID-19 dashboard is showing 42 new cases since 10 a.m. Thursday, leaving a total of 16,194 cases. There have been 52 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 14,487. There have been two additional deaths, leaving a total of 298 deaths. In Black Hawk County, 19,697 residents have been fully vaccinated.

LINN COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Friday, the Linn County COVID-19 dashboard is showing 23 new cases since 10 a.m. Thursday, leaving a total of 19,703 cases. There have been 14 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 18,348 recoveries. There have been no additional deaths, leaving a total of 332 deaths in the county. There are 12 patients currently hospitalized in the county. In Linn County, 34,484 residents have been fully vaccinated.

JOHNSON COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Friday, there are 14 new positive cases reported in Johnson County since 10 a.m. Thursday. This brings the total to 13,298 reported cases. There have been a total of 12,829 recoveries, 19 more reported than yesterday. There were no additional deaths, leaving a total of 76. In Johnson County, 27,778 residents have been fully vaccinated.

DUBUQUE COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Friday, there were 12 additional positive cases reported in Dubuque County since 10 a.m. Thursday. This brings the total to 12,544 reported cases. There have been 18 additional recoveries reported, leaving a total of 12,025. There have been no additional deaths reported, leaving a total of 200. In Dubuque County, 15,757 residents have been fully vaccinated.
