Mar. 25: Iowa’s COVID-19 hospitalizations rise above 200 again, active cases back above 12,000

IOWA — There were 634 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday, according to the state’s dashboard, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 347,702.

The state’s website says that of the 347,702 people who have tested positive, 330,009 have recovered. This is 549 more recoveries than what the state reported Wednesday.

The state’s death toll is 5,689, which 6 more than the number reported yesterday.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (330,009) and the number of deaths (5,689) from the total number of cases (347,702) shows there are currently 12,004 active positive cases in the state.

As of Thursday morning, there were 46 patients hospitalized in Iowa within the last 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 207, an increase from 190 hospitalized the day before. Of those, 46 are in the ICU (up from 40), and 17 are on ventilators (down from 19).

In Iowa, there were 3,084 people tested in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,623,147 people have been tested for COVID-19.

As of Thursday morning, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine dashboard, 1,273,732 total doses have been administered to Iowa residents and 511,174 individuals have completed the series. This is 6,276 more completed vaccinations than Wednesday.

BLACK HAWK COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Thursday, the Black Hawk COVID-19 dashboard is showing 14 new cases since 10 a.m. Wednesday, leaving a total of 16,269 cases. There have been 15 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 14,562. There have been no additional deaths, leaving a total of 300 deaths. In Black Hawk County, 23,228 residents have been fully vaccinated.

LINN COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Thursday, the Linn County COVID-19 dashboard is showing 25 new cases since 10 a.m. Wednesday, leaving a total of 19,776 cases. There have been 11 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 18,452 recoveries. There have been no additional deaths, leaving a total of 335 deaths in the county. There are 16 patients currently hospitalized in the county. In Linn County, 38,885 residents have been fully vaccinated.

JOHNSON COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Thursday, there are 23 new positive cases reported in Johnson County since 10 a.m. Wednesday. This brings the total to 13,409 reported cases. There have been a total of 12,936 recoveries, 22 more reported than yesterday. There were no additional deaths, leaving a total of 77. In Johnson County, 30,287 residents have been fully vaccinated.

DUBUQUE COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Thursday, there were 26 additional positive cases reported in Dubuque County since 10 a.m. Wednesday. This brings the total to 12,627 reported cases. There have been 14 additional recoveries reported, leaving a total of 12,144. There have been no additional deaths reported, leaving a total of 200. In Dubuque County, 17,940 residents have been fully vaccinated.
