Mar. 27: Iowa reports 8 additional deaths and 531 new COVID-19 cases

IOWA — There were 531 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the state’s dashboard, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 349,140.

The state’s website says that of the 349,140 people who have tested positive, 331,268 have recovered. This is 454 more recoveries than what the state reported Friday.

The state’s death toll is 5,716, which 8 more than the number reported yesterday.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (331,268) and the number of deaths (5,716) from the total number of cases (349,140) shows there are currently 12,156 active positive cases in the state.

As of Saturday morning, there were 33 patients hospitalized in Iowa within the last 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 201, a decrease from 207 hospitalized the day before. Of those, 43 are in the ICU (down from 46), and 12 are on ventilators (down from 14).

In Iowa, there were 2,702 people tested in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,628,836 people have been tested for COVID-19.

As of Saturday morning, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine dashboard, 1,345,279 total doses have been administered to Iowa residents and 543,193 individuals have completed the series. This is 18,245 more completed vaccinations than Friday.

BLACK HAWK COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Saturday, the Black Hawk COVID-19 dashboard is showing 19 new cases since 10 a.m. Thursday, leaving a total of 16,288 cases. There have been 13 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 14,575. There have been no additional deaths, leaving a total of 300 deaths. In Black Hawk County, 24,045 residents have been fully vaccinated.

LINN COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Saturday, the Linn County COVID-19 dashboard is showing 18 new cases since 10 a.m. Friday, leaving a total of 19,822 cases. There have been 16 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 18,493 recoveries. There have been no additional deaths, leaving a total of 335 deaths in the county. There are 13 patients currently hospitalized in the county. In Linn County, 40,509 residents have been fully vaccinated.

JOHNSON COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Saturday, there are 57 new positive cases reported in Johnson County since 10 a.m. Friday. This brings the total to 13,502 reported cases. There have been a total of 12,975 recoveries, 13 more reported than yesterday. There was one additional death, leaving a total of 78. In Johnson County, 32,592 residents have been fully vaccinated.

DUBUQUE COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Saturday, there were 18 additional positive cases reported in Dubuque County since 10 a.m. Friday. This brings the total to 12,665 reported cases. There have been 17 additional recoveries reported, leaving a total of 12,173. There have been no additional deaths reported, leaving a total of 200. In Dubuque County, 19,212 residents have been fully vaccinated.
