May 12: Iowa getting closer to 6,000 overall deaths from COVID-19
DES MOINES, Iowa — According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, there are 374 new cases of COVID-19 in the state of Iowa measured by Iowa’s News Now from 10:00 a.m. on May 11 to 10:00 a.m. on May 12.
There are now 368,468 people who have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic started in Iowa.
Nine additional deaths were reported due to COVID-19 over the last 24 hours. Right now, the state reports 5,994 overall deaths.
6,579 more people are now fully vaccinated in Iowa, with 1,204,715 people through the vaccination series in the state. So far, 2,523,489 total doses have been administered in the state of Iowa.
159 people are hospitalized in Iowa with COVID-19 which is four less than at 10:00 a.m. on May 11.
36 patients are in the ICU, which is seven less than the number reported on May 11.
