Police investigating after man found dead in Cedar Rapids

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – An individual was found dead in the neighborhood of 64th Avenue and Edgewood Road SW on Monday morning, and police are investigating the cause of death.
Asukulu Mmengwa, a 20-year-old Cedar Rapids resident, was identified as the victim.
Police said they were sent to a construction site in the area after employees discovered the corpse, according to a press release.
Based on the preliminary investigation, police believe it was an unattended death. The public is not believed to be at risk as a result of this incident, according to police.
An autopsy is likely to be performed by the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny.
