The third annual semi-colon tattoo event is hosted by Foundation 2

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Many people use tattoos as a means of expressing anything, from art to life events. And Sunday’s “The Story Continues; Semicolon Tattoo Event” hosted by Foundation 2 Crisis Services is assisting folks in doing precisely that.
For the event, the mental health charity has teamed up with local artists, including tattoo artist Lindsay Shriver, for the third year.
A sheet of patterns with a semi-colon design incorporated into each one is available for selection.
According to Foundation 2 leaders, the semicolon is a sign of power in the field of mental health.
Many people have either personally experienced suicide attempts or suicidal thoughts, or, as you may know, those who have a friend, family member, or loved one who has either died by suicide or has gone through some of those experiences themselves get that in their honor and memory.
Foundation 2 Crisis Services Marketing Manager Jena Schoenhofer described it as “sort of just a physical reminder of things that people may have gone through or are going through.”
According to Schoenhofer, the occasion is also a fantastic opportunity to meet people experiencing comparable circumstances.
“There are many people in the room that understand what you’re going through or have experienced. And knowing that others understand may be incredibly reassuring and soothing. Additionally, they are there to recognize and appreciate the experiences you or a loved one have had. And that can also be extremely fulfilling, you know. Beyond simply receiving the actual tattoo, that’s a significant aspect of the occasion,” she stated.
On Sundays, tattooing at Visionaire Barbershop & Tattoo Parlor in Cedar Rapids begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m.
According to Schoenhofer, all earnings support Foundation 2. Temporary options will also be available for those who are not yet ready to commit to permanent tattoos.
