Trial of former Linn-Mar coach accused for sexual abuse postponed
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – This year’s trial for the former Linn-Mar track and field coach who is accused of sexual abuse has been postponed.
Kameron Beets has been charged with sexual abuse, second-degree kidnapping, and sexual exploitation.
His trial had been scheduled on March 8, but has now been postponed until September 20. The defense claimed that they needed more time to prepare.
Beets had given up his right to a quick trial, and the state didn’t object to the long process.
Investigators think he took advantage of his jobs as a high school sports photographer and a personal trainer to get close to kids before he abused them.
They say that he sexually abused a 17-year-old boy and held him naked in a bathroom at a high school in Linn-Mar, Iowa, for more than 45 minutes.
