Cedar Rapids, Iowa – After a two-day trial in federal court in Cedar Rapids, the jury decided that the defendant was guilty of sexually abusing a sleeping woman.
The prosecution presented evidence during the trial indicating that Robin Roberts, 67 years old and living in the Meskwaki Settlement, engaged in a sexual act on the victim while she was sleeping. She did not give her permission to have sexual intercourse and was unable to give consent at the time that it took place.
Roberts could get life in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release after any time he spends in jail.
